Post Title: Care Assistant
Location: Welwyn, Hertfordshire
Salary: £17,000 – £18,000 + Benefits
Role Summary
As a Care Assistant you will play a vital role in ensuring that the residents in our Care Home receive a high standard of person-centred care and are helped to retain their dignity and individuality at all times.
You will be part of a team who are helping to enhance the wellbeing of our residents and make a difference to their everyday lives. You’ll support residents with practical and personal care and emotional support, whilst respecting their dignity and promoting their independence.
Whether it’s cooking or gardening, singing and dancing, or reading and talking, you’ll help people to continue living the life they love!
Prior experience as a Care Assistant isn’t essential as we provide all the training and support you will need to thrive and progress in your career!

Role Responsibilities
- Ensure the highest possible levels of care are provided – Assisting residents in all aspects of their care needs (e.g. physical, emotional and spiritual)
- Attend to the comfort, personal appearance and hygiene of residents at all times; including dressing, undressing, toileting, bathing, combing hair etc.
- Take and document observations of residents including weight, food and liquid intakes/outputs. Perform simple tests of urine, complete charts and Care Assistant records as directed
- Assist People who need help during meal times & assist with serving of food/drinks as required. Set and clear tables and trays.
- Make beds and change bed linen, ensuring that residents rooms are clean and tidy. Ensure the Care Home’s resources are used appropriately.
- Escort Residents travelling to and from the Care Home e.g. on social outings, hospital visits etc.
- Assist with the reception and orientation of new residents in a reassuring manner, listing the residents clothing and other property
- Attend and participate in training sessions and staff meetings when required
- Be aware of, and at all times comply with, all relevant company policies and procedures and all relevant statutory responsibilities including fire arrangements, health and safety issues including moving and handling, COSHH regulations, maintaining records diligently and accurately as required.
- Make visitors feel welcome. Provide refreshments/assistance as and when required.
- Answer the door and telephone appropriately. Respond accordingly, and pass on messages promptly.
- Observe care planning needs for residents and complete written daily records as instructed and in line with the Company’s policies and procedures.
- Assist in the organisation of social activities by interacting with residents and helping them continue with hobbies and activities in the Care Home.
- Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with resident’s personal and financial affairs, and avoid abuse of the privileged relationship that exists with residents.
