Job Summary
Currently, the company has available a superb opportunity to join the organisations as a Clinical Governance and Quality Lead Nurse. Reporting into the National Director of Clinical Services, you will be responsible for assuring clinical safety and driving excellent patient outcomes across the northern region. The ideal candidate would be based in either Leeds or Manchester and would enjoy travelling to various locations to coincide with company requirements.

Experience within a similar independent healthcare setting is strongly desired, but Nurses from a range of backgrounds will be considered.

Key responsibilities & duties
As the Clinical Governance and Quality Lead within the company, you will be responsible for providing day to day clinical compliance support and guidance to all clinic staff and at head office when needed.  You will lead by example, and foster a clinical culture of best standards and current practice, not merely national standards as detailed by The Care Quality Commission.

  • To lead and deliver an effective governance and risk management programme to enhance the quality of services provided through evidence based practice.
  • To ensure that all services adhere to statutory regulations incorporating best practice and national service guidelines.
  • To produce monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual reports including an annual Quality Account which demonstrates service quality, clinical outcome measures and statutory compliance.
  • To actively lead and engage with service users to monitor outcomes and service satisfaction.
  • To deputise for the National Clinical Services Manager when required.
  • Participate in on- call duty, per the Clinical Nurse Leads rota and whilst on duty as the on-call emergency phone holder, provide safe, professional advice, in an empathetic manner.

Work experience & qualifications

  • Outstanding leadership skills with experience in a clinical senior post within an acute setting
  • Independent sector experience (desirable)
  • Proactive and driven to succeed with a proven track record of delivering against targets
  • Good organisational and planning skills, including risk management
  • Able to make judgements involving complex facts or situations which require the analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Able to communicate clearly with a range of people at differing levels across all clinical sites, deploying a range of techniques to do this effectively.
  • Must be a Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration. The Registered Nurse is expected to be fully conversant with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and associated national guidelines and abide by their guidance
  • Knowledge of professional codes and guidelines and their implications for practice.
  • Knowledge of the Care Standards Act and Care and Quality Commission Requirements.
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance tools.
  • Take responsibility for personal and professional updating and development, including mandatory training.
  • Regularly assess and evaluate practice by audit and implement change in a participative manner with nursing/business colleagues
  • Maintain professional contemporaneous records always
  • Participate in personal development review
  • Maintain a high standard of personal behaviour and ensure effective communication with all members of the multi-disciplinary team, patients and relatives
  • Have union/insurance cover – for example RCN membership
